Champions Substance Recovery Systems
A Westerville based nonprofit, alcohol and substance use disorder Peer Support and care ”navigator” organization. Our mission is to establish a coordinated area-wide Westerville, Ohio Recovery Community Network of prevention, education and care services for addiction issues.
Substance use disorder remains the most pressing public health challenge in the United States. More than 40 million Americans and nearly one million Ohioans live with substance use disorders, yet fewer than eight percent ever receive treatment. CSRS addresses these challenges by assisting clients to navigate the service options that deliver care, rather than operating as a traditional treatment provider alone. Through disease education, peer recovery coaching, community, university, church and employer recovery networks; and Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) implementation, CSRS improves availability, accessibility, accountability, affordability, sustainability and long-term recovery outcomes.
Our Services
Disease Education
Make publicly available educational materials and presentations
Establish an online presence promoting SUD education and accessibility to community and peer supporters
Train university students, staff, healthcare providers, and corporate employees on the medical and physiological aspects of substance use disorders
Provide prevention classes for youth, adults and families in the area
Client and Community Support
Develop and expand collegiate, church, community and employer-based recovery community organizations
Establish a group of trained Peer Supporters, with lived experiences in recovery to support others through the phases of recovery
Shepherd the client through the numerous options for triage, screening, counseling, coaching, peer support, and recovery monitoring services
Help individuals develop recovery capital plans
Create jobs for community members, students and interns
Collection, analyze, and report data to fulfill grant requirements, show performance progress and promote continuous improvement
·Advocacy of standardized and partially value-added fee structures to increase accessibility
Employer Outreach Services
Etablish Recovery Community Organizations within workplace environments
Provide disease education, encourage early screening, coaching, and recovery monitoring
Provide options for employee-centered recovery pathways
Offer options to and from quality healthcare and recovery providers
Offer employers tiered partnership agreements including retainers, sponsorships and memberships within the Westerville Recovery Community Network

Founder and Leadership
Champions Substance Recovery Systems is led by Greg Wince, Chief Executive Officer, with operational leadership provided by Greg Cowles, Chief Operating Officer. The organization is governed by a volunteer board of directors and supported by expert advisors, including physicians, addiction specialists practicing the modern medical treatment model, volunteer providers, and experienced business executives. The leadership team brings a combination of lived experience, professional expertise, and long-term commitment to improving substance use disorder care systems.
The book Coach’s Story and Handbook Volume I – Substance Abuse and “The Silent Sufferers” by Greg Wince and Dr. Richard Whitney is the catalyst driving Champions Substance Recovery Systems (CSRS).
